Candace Burr 60th Medical Operations Squadron Registered Nurse TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Headquarters, Air Mobility Command has approved a research study involving the David Grant USAF Medical Center’s beneficiary population. This study is focused on the impact of prevention care on the lives of individuals diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Participants in our study would come in to DGMC’s High blood pressure, Obesity, Lipodemia, Diabetes, Stress and Smoking clinic once a month for 12 months to be weighed and have their blood pressure taken. Lab work would be obtained on all study participants at the beginning of the study and every three months thereafter. These tests should be routinely done by your Primary Care Provider. Diabetes education would be offered periodically throughout the year to those who are interested, but attendance at these classes is not mandatory. Our mission is to focus on improving the health of our enrolled population. Benefits to our enrollment population include: - Focused diabetes monitoring and education - Meeting and interacting with other diabetics at DGMC - Monthly one-on-one interaction with DGMC health care professionals - Rewards for achieving healthcare goals (T-shirts and other rewards) For more information or to enroll, contact DGMC’s HOLDSS research team at 423-3775 or 423-3768.
