An Airman with the 303rd Office of Special Investigations Detachment here received the Air Force OSI Support Person of the Year award.

Tech. Sgt. Ricky Griswold earned the recognition for his work as an acquisitions support person for OSI.

“He’s a shining example of everything good about our NCO corps,” said Lt. Col. Stanley Robinson, Detachment 303rd commander. “He’s got a very unique human relations ability. He can talk to people in a job where it takes diplomacy to get things done. A lot of the time, he’s the face of OSI and he wows them every time he goes out.”

Sergeant Griswold came to OSI from the 60th Logistics Readiness Squadron. He has been at Travis for five years, two of which were at OSI.

“I report directly to the commander so I can get things instantaneously,” Sergeant Griswold said. “I can brainstorm my ideas, go forward and make it work.”

There are only 27 people who are supply personnel for OSI across the Air Force.

“They are practicing the policy of doing more with less,” he said of his peers.

He moved from LRS to OSI in order to make more of an impact.

“It’s not easy getting into OSI,” Sergeant Griswold said. “I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to stand out on my own.”

“Anything and everything supply-wise or support-wise comes through me,” he said.

“I worked up an accountability system where I would put deployable items back so it could be used for the next person,” Sergeant Griswold said.

He recently organized the OSI’s cell phones and changed their carrier in order to increase efficiency.

He says he enjoys his job because of the autonomy and the challenges.
