Travis begins cycle of deployments Published May 7, 2007 By 010507 TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- More than 60 Team Travis members deployed from here Saturday in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. The Airmen said their farewells to family and friends at the Travis Passenger Terminal before leaving on their deployments that typically last four to six months. "I'm going to miss her but the Air Force is lucky to have her," said Jay Peaveley, husband of Capt. Linda Peaveley, 60th Medical Operations Squadron. "We went out and bought webcams so that we can keep in touch and see each other every now and again." The deployers are part of the Air Expeditionary Force-cycles 7/8. For some, this is their first deployment to the area of responsibility. "This is my first deployment and I very excited about going. I get the rare opportunity to visit a foreign country and experience the 'real military,'" said Staff Sgt. Kenneth Gately, 60th Diagnostics and Therapeutic Squadron. Team Travis is constantly supporting the Global War on Terrorism both with Airmen and fulfilling mobility requirements. More Team Travis members will be deploying and returning throughout the beginning of the cycle. Media will be invited to upcoming deployments as they develop. For more information contact 1st Lt.
