Farewell to Travis

My journey began two years, nine months and 25 days ago when I drove through the Travis Air Force Base main gate for the very first time. It feels like just yesterday.
For those of you who may not know, I have accepted a position that will take me to Robins Air Force Base, Ga. I am honored to be chosen as the new Command Chief Master Sergeant for Air Force Reserve Command, and excited about the opportunities that await me. But this assignment will take me even further away from my home in sunny, hot and dry Southern California, and of course, from all of you. It is truly a bittersweet departure.

It has been my absolute joy and privilege to be a part of this Travis and Solano County community. Your kindness, partnership, patriotism, enthusiasm and commitment have been an example for me to emulate. I am saddened to leave the family that I have grown to love and respect.

Our military, civil service, families and local community have faced, and overcome, some extremely difficult challenges in the time I have served here. It has been incredible to have been associated with such a phenomenal team. I have found working here to be inspiring, and it is to you - Team Travis - that I owe my success and gratitude. Thank you.

I ask a few things from you as I start my next journey. Have a goal, always be ready and never self eliminate. Never, ever stop dreaming and believing that you will reach that goal. It was Ralph Waldo Emerson who said it best: "Life is a journey, not a destination." I'll say so long for now, and I know we'll see each other again.
