9/11 a reminder for Travis to remain vigilant Published Sept. 7, 2011 By 1st Lt. Robert Whitney 60th Operations Group intelligence operations chief TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif -- September 11, 2011 is a significant milestone in our nation's history. This date marks the ten-year anniversary of the largest terrorist attack to occur on American soil. It also has been nine years, 11 months that we have been a nation at war. During the last decade, the U.S. and its allies have made steady gains at dismantling terrorist networks and degrading terrorists' ability to make war. With significant investments, technological advancements and educational advancements, our nation has become arguably safer during this decade. However, while we enjoy our freedom today, there are still terrorists throughout the world who would like to destroy our way of life and undermine our democratic freedoms. As individual citizens, military and civilians alike, we must continue to be the sentinels for our country and our community. If anyone or anything appears suspicious, unusual or threatening, immediately contact the proper authorities. Eagle Eyes: 424-2800 Security Forces: 424-3293/3294/2227 Emergency: 424-4911
