When I first assumed command, I quickly realized how important it is to work together with all of our partners at Travis. Travis is the largest wing in Air Mobility Command and the only to fly three major weapons system airplanes. It is also has the largest Reserve and contingency response wings, plus 30 additional partner units and the second largest medical treatment facility in the Air Force. We are in the unique position of being the only base that can accomplish nearly all of AMC's missions organically.

However, being the biggest is not what makes Travis so great, it's the people working together as a cohesive team that makes the real difference. As Babe Ruth once said, "The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don't play together, the club won't be worth a dime." The broad capabilities of Team Travis require synergy so we can tackle all of our obstacles as a cohesive team.

The results from our recent Operational Readiness Inspection show we have been working as a team, and now is the time to stay focused. As many of you are aware, all three wings at Travis will be receiving a Logistics Compliance Assessment Program inspection from Dec. 14 to 21. This is a critical inspection that will examine the logistics capabilities across all three wings and highlights yet another reason we must all work together as we showcase what teamwork is all about. Once the LCAP inspection is over, we will move on and prepare for the next challenge. However, it's about more than just prepping for inspections. It's about being ready for our war-time taskings and executing our daily tasks with excellence. The partnerships we are building today are crucial to ensuring our continued success in the future.

A symbol of this partnership is the new Team Travis logo, as voted on by Team Travis in a recent competition. Throughout history, units have had symbols that represent what they are about. Sports teams have their pennants, military units have their guideons, nations have their flags and Team Travis now has a logo. This is a symbol we can rally around as a base just like our rally call "Airpower!" when we hear Team Travis. These symbols and calls help provide our identity as members of one great team at Travis. The partnership we enjoy enables us to succeed and is the same driving force for what Team Travis brings to the fight around the world ... Airpower!

Regardless of the wing or unit you fall under or your primary duty, it is all of our responsibilities to ensure Travis is providing air power to the fight. The unique capabilities that exist at Travis present unique challenges. By employing partnerships creatively and effectively, we can tackle any obstacle we face. As a team, we need to work hard every day to ensure Team Travis continues its Golden Bear Legacy of Excellence!
