Keep up the good work Published Oct. 11, 2007 By Col. GI Tuck 60th Air Mobility Wing acting commander TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend, you all certainly deserved it! Even with a shortened week though, Team Travis continues to accomplish an unbelievable amount. 615th Contingency Response Wing ORI Our partners in the 615th CRW are mid-way through their first-ever Operational Readiness Inspection. A group of more than 100 members is currently on their way to Gulfport, Miss. to show their immense capability. Good luck to Col. Tony Hinen, 615th CRW commander, and the rest of the wing. I am confident you will blow this inspection out of the water. North Bay Stand Down Last week, more than 120 Airmen, led by Chief Master Sgt. Joseph Mangum, 60th Mission Support Group, volunteered their time to America's veterans at the North Bay Stand Down in Dixon, Calif. Airmen from squadrons including security forces, aerial port and civil engineer, as well as our partner units, assisted community veterans by providing information on drug and alcohol abuse, housing, VA benefits and employment. Attendees received haircuts, clothing and supplies. Chief Mangum received a highly sought-after excellence coin from Chief Master Sgt. Michael Williams, 60 AMW command chief, for his outstanding efforts. Thanks to all of you for taking the time to pay our respects to those who served before us. The Peak I recently visited the Peak, near the Pit in the dorms. I was impressed by the services the chapel staff provides to our dorm residents. I encourage all Airmen to go check it out, socialize and enjoy some free coffee products. Soon the Peak will offer Open Mic nights and other events. My hat's off to all involved in making this program a success. Solano County Planning Commission I would also like the recognize Sara Underwood, Travis Community Planner, Greg Parrott, 60th AMW Judge Advocate General office and Capt. Jay Donelson, 60th Operations Support Squadron, for taking time out of their schedule to properly educate me about some of the issues we are facing off base. Your assistance was priceless -- thank you! Travis Marina Kudos to Louis Canotas and the staff of the Travis Marina, who played host to several hundred active duty and retired military members with "front row seats" to Fleet Week activities last weekend. What a great opportunity to highlight the super food, services and recreational water activities available right at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge! I encourage Team Travis to take advantage of all the great deals your marina has to offer. Thanks Team Travis for another wonderful week. I am proud of every member of this Team!
