National Earth Day was April 22, and the 60th Civil Engineer Squadron hosted the 2nd annual Airman Power Tournament to celebrate the day at the Travis Fitness Center.

During the tournament, teams competed on elliptical machines attached to a ReRev electrical generator system that converts human power into a usable form of renewable energy. This energy is then fed directly into the Fitness Center's electrical system, creating free electricity.

This year, 12 teams from across Travis competed, producing 460 watt-hours of power. That's enough electricity to power up to 17 computers.

The winning team, the 60th Maintenance Squadron for two years running, was team Pointy Heads who produced 55.5 watt-hours of electricity.

This energy could not have been produced without the panting and sweating of hardworking Airmen who have gone beyond Air Power, making Airman Power a literal reality. We give a special thanks to all of our participants for their contribution to our renewable energy capabilities and their dedication to an energy efficient future.

You may be asking yourself, how hard is it to produce a Watt of electricity anyway? Visit the Travis Fitness Center and hop on one of the ReRev connected elliptical machines to find out. Join the green initiative while staying fit-to-fight. We look forward to seeing your team at next year's Airman Power Tournament.
