Travis is conducting various construction projects between now and October.

Currently, a new jogging path along First Street is under way which will connect the red track with the duck pond.

"The construction of the new jogging path is really going to improve the quality of life for the Airmen," said Dennis Chen, 60th Civil Engineer Squadron infrastructure project management chief.

On Monday, the Travis Conference Center parking lot and phase one construction of the Airman and Family Readiness Center parking lot will begin.

"Contractors will be repairing the old and deteriorated lots," Chen said. "There will be a full-depth repair by replacement of the sub base and asphalt that will last another 15 to 20 years."

During this time, individuals are reminded to use the parking lot by the Delta Breeze Club to access the United Service Organization and Godfather's Pizza. The A&FRC center will begin phase two of construction in June. Individuals should check with the A&FRC on where to park during this time.

In May, construction of Perimeter Road begins by Building 1185 toward the south gate.

"The construction on Perimeter Road has been going on for more than ten years," Chen said. "This is more than a $2 million project to finish up the repair of Perimeter Road."

The project will be a complete replacement of the deteriorated road. U.S. Navy Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron 3, 60th CES explosive ordinance disposal, 60th Security Forces, 60th Communications Squadron and 60th CES firefighters will have access to the road with some detours for official business only. The road will be closed to the rest of the base populace during this time.

In June, two more construction projects will begin. Hickam Avenue, from Airman Drive past Skymaster Drive, will have repairs done. It will be phased to minimize impact. There will be detours and road closures during this time. The B-bunkers, buildings 959 and 961, will have its parking lot and loading dock area replaced due to deteriorating conditions.

"We will work with the 60th Logistics Readiness Squadron to work around their schedule," Chen said.

The last scheduled paving job will begin in July. A portion of the motor pool parking lot will be repaved from the gas pumps to the entrance. During this time, anyone needing access to motor pool should use the entrance along Broadway Street.
