The holidays are a time for family, but finding a place for guests to stay can be frustrating and expensive. The Westwind Inn's Home for the Holidays program helps alleviate the stress of finding comfortable and convenient lodging for visiting family and friends. This program started back in 2003 and has grown in popularity each year.

Previous space-available policies only allowed guests to make reservations a few days in advance.

"This leaves little time for planning and can lead to a great deal of uncertainty and undue stress," said Steve Ellison, Westwind Inn general manager.

Under the revised USAF space-available policy, you can now make reservations up to 120 days in advance based on availability. As the holiday season is typically slow, Air Force lodging managers are allowed to implement a more liberal reservation policy so people are assured of a reservation and can make definitive travel plans. With Travis' Home for the Holidays program, any authorized military personnel member can reserve rooms at the Westwind Inn for the period of Nov. 18, 2012 through Jan. 10, 2013 based on availability.

"We are even allowing reservations up to 14-days at a time instead of the normal 3-day increments", said Ellison.

The only exceptions to this program are for pet-friendly temporary living facility and business suite facilities.

"Because we have a very limited number of rooms in each of these categories we have to handle these requests on a case-by-case basis," continued Ellison.

With a total of 561 guestrooms in 17 facilities here on base, the Westwind Inn can easily accommodate individuals or entire families.
