60th OSS victorious again Published Dec. 1, 2006 By Staff Sgt. Matt McGovern 60th AMW Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 60th Operations Support Squadron reached their 11th strait victory defeating the 15th Air Mobility Operations Squadron, 27 to 6. The 60th OSS dominated the first half starting with receiver Ryan Habbeshaw's interception. Habbeshaw caught the ball then pitched it to Royce Mace, 60th OSS safety, who ran it 40 yards into the end zone. Then Joshua Clements, 60th OSS tight end, caught a pass from quarterback James Wilson, to run an impressive 60 yards for another touchdown. To the credit of 15th AMOS, cornerback Hendrick Perry intercepted the ball and broke away for 60 yards. However, the team couldn't score, partly because of the pass-rushing capability of Jerron Johnson, 60th OSS, who had a total of four sacks before the night was over. Action in the second half included Nick Balolong, 60th OSS linebacker, intercepting then running the ball 20 yards for another touchdown making the score 20 to 0. Then Troy White, 60th OSS receiver, ran in a ten-yard touchdown to extend the lead. Finally, 15th AMOS answered back with a touchdown from receiver Jay Singer in the last few minutes of the game. "Half our team is deployed, if we were all here we might have had a chance to beat them," said Singer. Although the 15th AMOS lost, they kept a positive attitude. "At least we broke their shut-out streak and we had some fun," said Clyde Cross, 15th AMOS. The 60th OSS team appeared excited about the win and optimistic about going to the championship. "We've had nine strait shut-outs, I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, but I think we have a chance at winning the championship," said Reggie Davis, 60th OSS coach. The 60th OSS commander, Lt. Col. Bryan Watt attended the game to cheer on his team. "I'm impressed by our performance - we're on course to win our fourth strait commander's trophy," said Colonel Watt. "My guys know I'm a competitor and I'm rooting for them." The flag-football championship is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the football field next to Outdoor Recreation.
