***MEDIA RELEASE*** TRAVIS LIFTS EVACUATION ORDER Published Aug. 21, 2020 60th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 60th Air Mobility Wing commander has lifted the mandatory evacuation order for Travis Air Force base as of 10 a.m. Aug. 21. Col. Corey Simmons, 60th AMW commander, gave the evacuation order Aug. 19 in response to the LNU Lightning Complex Fire near Fairfield and Vacaville, California, out of an abundance of caution for Team Travis Airmen and families. Base housing and dorm residents may return to base immediately after 10 a.m. Westwind Inn guests with existing reservations, who had to evacuate the inn, may also return to lodging. Those returning to base should use the Main, North and Hospital Gates to re-enter the base. Aircraft should return to the base over the next few days. The base remains in a mission-essential personnel status to allow families time to safely return to their homes. Members should contact their chain of command to determine their duty status. Most base services, including the Commissary and the Base Exchange, remain closed at this time, to facilitate a smooth transition to base for returning evacuees. However, the gas station and Monarch Dining facility are open. Base leadership, the emergency operations team, and local emergency authorities continue to actively monitor the threat. At this time there has been no fire-related damage to the installation or military assets. Fires remain a local threat to some areas outside the base perimeter.
