More than 150 Airmen of the 60th Air Mobility Wing marched Nov. 11 through the streets of Fairfield, California, as they participated in the annual Veteran's Day Parade.

The Veteran's Day program downtown began with Col. Joel Jackson, the commander of the 60th AMW participating as the key-note speaker during the commemoration ceremony at the Fairfield Downtown Theater and leading off the parade as the grand marshal. Senior Airman Curtis English, with the 60th Aerial Port Squadron also read his personal account in the military entitled "A Veteran's Story."

It's an honor for the Airmen of Travis Air Force Base to participate in these Veterans Day events. We're lucky to be part of such a patriotic, supportive, and caring community. Thanks for your support not just today, but every day," said Col. Joel Jackson, 60th Air Mobility Wing commander.

Also during the parade, vintage military vehicles rolled past crowds and civic organizations showed their support to the Veteran's by marching. Travis' Band of the Golden West performed various patriotic scores.

"It makes my heart swell to see so many proud and courageous young men and women walking with their heads held high with pride for their country. 'Go Air Force!'," said Sharon Timber, a spectator of the parade.

The day's events were attended by local state, county and city leadership who shared their appreciation for veterans and Travis Air Force Base.

"We are lucky and privileged to have Travis Air Force Base as our neighbor and serving all of us," said Harry Price, mayor of the City of Fairfield.

After the one and a half mile parade route, the Airmen were happy to have a chance to be a part of the event.

"It felt like I was doing something great and it gave me hope that people believe in us," said Airman 1st Class Jordan Balolony, a contracting specialist with the 60th Contracting Squadron. "I didn't think that many people cared about us or what we do. It was spectacular," he added.
