Airmen from the Peak Leadership Team received recognition Sept. 8 from Col. Robert Cannon, 60th Air Mobility Wing chaplain, Chief Master Sgt. Alan Boling, 60th AMW command chief and Capt. Jeffrey McMillen, 60th Medical Group chaplain at Travis Air Force Base, California.

The recognition was for the team's efforts to keep the Peak, an all-volunteer Airmen-run café, running efficiently, saying farewell to the former team and welcoming the new team.

"These Airmen are the ones who run the Peak, serve the drinks, but they also do a lot more than that," McMillen said. "They also develop programs for the Airmen to get involved in, such as weekend trips, so they can develop friendships with each other. These Airmen are the reason why this program is successful."

The Peak, located inside the dorm management building, provides a place for Airmen E-1 to E-4, who are dorm residents, to enjoy free refreshments and meet new people.

"The thing I love most about the Peak is that you can have a really bad day and as soon as you walk in, they greet you, get you a drink and are that ear to listen to your every word," said Senior Airman Esther Coronado, 60th Diagnostics and Therapeutics Squadron  histopathology technician and the Peak former volunteer coordinator.

The Peak is open 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
