Airmen from various career fields flew on a KC-10 Extender refueling flight Aug. 20 at Travis Air Force Base, California.

The Airmen on the flight were recognized as outstanding performers by their units and were offered a chance to see the United States Air Force Thunderbirds being refueled by a Travis KC-10 near Reno, Nevada.

"I have never been on a flight like this before," said Senior Airman Vincent Floyd, 60th Surgical Operations Squadron medical admin and Airman of the Quarter award recipient. "To see all these flyers in action was something out of a movie. I was able to sit in the cockpit during takeoff and watching the boom operator was amazing. He flawlessly completed the mission he was tasked with like it was nothing. I felt proud to be able to be a part of something so big."

The Thunderbirds flew in the Aviation Roundup Airshow Aug. 22 in Minden, Nevada, and are scheduled to perform Oct. 3 to 4 at the California Capital Airshow in Sacramento, California.
