Education center plans first open house Published July 9, 2015 By Airman 1st Class Amber Carter 60th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Education Center at Travis Air Force Base, California, is scheduled to host its first open house from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 17. "The effort is to raise awareness of all the educational benefits and options service members and their spouses have available on base," said Jerry South, 60th Force Support Squadron education services officer. "Not only is education part of a well-rounded Airman, but it is becoming more of a requirement for career enhancement and promotion potential." Information about Professional Military Education, Community College of the Air Force, Montgomery GI Bill, Post-9/11 education benefits and College-Level Examination Program/Defense Activity for Nontraditional Education Support testing also is provided. "There have been a lot of changes to in the Tuition Assistance, MGIB, Post-9/11 education benefits and PME restructuring," South said. "We at the 60th and 349th Education Centers along with the on-base college campuses want to be sure everyone has an opportunity to reach their full potential." Representatives will be on location at Bldg. 249 to answer questions and offer information about all of the benefits available. South's goal for the open house is for attendees to gain wisdom, direction and a goal for the future. His motto when it comes to education is, "Never be satisfied with who you are. Always strive to improve yourself. You'll never know what you can achieve if you never try." The open house will include a free lunch with burgers, hot dogs and refreshments.
