The Travis Air Force Base, California, United Service Organizations is scheduled to reopen June 3 at their new location, Bldg. 1348, which currently houses the dorm post office and The Peak.

"The mission of the USO is to lift the spirits of America's troops and their families," said Amy Eilts, USO Bay Area operations and programs manager. "We are a non-profit organization through which the American people can show their support and gratitude for our men and women in uniform."

The reopening will be at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Weiner Wednesday, one of the weekly events hosted by the USO. Free hot dogs and refreshments will be provided. The first 200 people to attend will receive a souvenir USO cup.

Upgrading from approximately 2,500 square feet to more than 4,000 square feet will provide more room and the new central location will provide easier access to USO amenities such as pool tables, big screen tvs, food and drinks, which are all provided free of charge to Airmen and their families.

"We will have more space to support ongoing programs in our center and being closer to the dorms will also allow us to provide services to new Airmen who are just settling into life at Travis," Eilts said. "We want everyone to know that we will continue to serve the entire Travis Air Force community, not only in our USO center but through partnerships across the base in order to bring quality programs to all Travis troops and their families."

USOs can be found in airports and a variety of locations around the world.

"I would definitely look the USO up wherever you go," said Jennifer Castillo, Travis USO Center operations supervisor. "We have a variety of programs that will help them no matter where they are. So, if you are in a less busy location, we can offer you packages such as USO to go, we have MEGS, our mobile entertainment gaming systems, and we have holiday boxes that can be sent to you. It's also a great volunteer opportunity."

The USO is open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
