The Travis Aero Club is scheduled to offer Airmen free ground school with the purchase of two flight lessons beginning March 10 on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Rio Vista.

"By purchasing the two flight lessons, it ensures the students will have a practical and technical application of what they've learned," said Stephanie Sobetzki, Travis Aero Club office manager. "Not having to pay for the ground school saves students about $350 that they could use to purchase the flight lessons."

The club is located approximately 20 minutes from base in Rio Vista.

It offers training for private pilot, commercial pilot and instrument rating, in addition to private pilot ground school and discovery flights, in which the PLAYpass can be used toward.

Different instructors will teach the flight lessons to give the student a different perspective. Each instructor here has their own unique path of how they got into aviation, Sobetzki said.

"Airmen whose ambition is to fly have the opportunity to do so here," said Ira Billick, Travis Aero Club chief flight instructor. "People who love airplanes and want to fly have the chance to do what they want and for some students it's to fly for the Air Force."
