Books on Bases aids children Published Jan. 10, 2014 By 60th Force Support Squadron 60th Force Support Squadron TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- More than 200 children and parents attended a winter holiday Books on Bases event hosted by Mitchell Memorial Library staff from 1-3 p.m. Dec. 21, 2013. Highlights of the event were a reading of "The Soldier's Night before Christmas" by Col. Corey Martin, 60th Air Mobility Wing commander, a visit from Santa, beautiful books, handmade crafts and snacks for all. Books on Bases was sponsored by the non-profit military organization Blue Star Families. They are dedicated to supporting and empowering military families. The event was coordinated by Chapter Director Jenny Felsen, a Travis spouse, in collaboration with Travis' librarians Marie Ludwig and Malissa Knapp. This was the second Books on Bases event to be held at Mitchell Memorial Library. The next program is planned for National Library Week, April 13 through 19
