Travis was named Air Mobility Command's 2014 Commander-In-Chief Installation Excellence Award winner Oct. 25.

"We'll now represent AMC at the Air Force level of this competition," said Col. Corey Martin, 60th Air Mobility Wing commander. "This is a tangible result of your hard work and dedication in spite of the major challenges, budgetary and otherwise we've faced over the last year."

The CINC IEA, which has been around since 1984, was established to recognize outstanding efforts to maintain and operate Department of Defense installations and recognize who has done the best with their resources to support the mission. The award encourages base leaders to promote innovative and creative ways to enhance base services, facilities and quality of life.

Travis was one of two finalists in 2011 for the prestigious award at the Air Force level, which included $1 million for the winning base to be spent on quality-of-life programs and projects. Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany ended up winning the top honors.

"It's clear our people have energetically enhanced the mission capabilities and productivity through innovation and teamwork," said Gen. Paul Selva, Air Mobility Command commander. "Thank you for your commitment to excellence in all we do."
