The Feds Feeds Families campaign started at Travis Air Force Base, Calif. July 5, and runs through Aug. 28.

"Feds Feed Families is a voluntary effort undertaken by federal employees nationwide who collect and donate non-perishable food items for those in need," said Senior Master Sgt. Chad Bickley, 60th Security Forces Squadron.

Any Team Travis member can drop off non-perishable items in barrels located throughout Travis. Each group has a primary and alternate representative and donation pickup will be July 31 and August 28.

Donations from Travis military and civilian personnel will be donated to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

The most wanted non-perishable items are canned meat, fish, and soup, canned ready-to-eat meals, canned vegetables and tomato products, peanut butter, iron-rich cereal, 100 percent fruit juice, canned fruit, dry beans, enriched rice or pasta and powdered milk, said Bickley.

"Travis receives a tremendous amount of support from the local community in a variety of ways," Bickley said. "This is a prime opportunity for Team Travis to give back to the local community and help those in their time of need."
