When Airmen work together to surpass excellence, their efforts can lead to recognitions such as being nominated to compete for the John L. Hennessy Trophy Award. The Travis Air Force Base, California, Sierra Inn Dining Facility was selected as Air Mobility Command's Region 2 nominee. The John L. Hennessy trophy is presented to the best food service program in the Air Force. Recognition is based on the entire scope of an installation's food service program performing above and beyond in management effectiveness, force readiness support, food quality, employee and customer relations, resource conservation, training and safety awareness. "We are constantly and consistently perfecting our daily tasks and operations," said Tech. Sgt. Raequiyah Starks, 60th Force Support Squadron dining facility manager. "We have won the John L. Hennessy Trophy Award five times since 2006." The Sierra Inn Dining Facility oversees approximately $562,000 in inventory and showcases their premiere dining option for more than 350 distinguished visitors throughout the year. Additionally, they provide 573,000 meals to eight facilities on base. "The mission of the DFAC is to fuel the No. 1 asset of the Air Force, the Airmen, and to support the base populace," Starks said. "What sets us apart from the other nominees is my team and the hard work and dedication they provide to not only meet but exceed the standards." There are three purposes to the Hennessy Trophy Award, to promote excellence in customer service and meal quality, to inspire high morale, motivation, mission support and a professional image, and to improve management concepts and practices. "Winning this year would show that our hard work didn't go unnoticed," Starks said.
