Celebrating Asian Pacific heritage
The skit right before this dance is a scenario of a Barrio Fiesta. The name of the game is “Palo Sebo.” The bamboo pole is supposed to be “oiled” making it difficult for the pole climbers to get to the top and claim the “bag of coins” as a reward. The bamboo is placed at the center of the plaza and the best bamboo climbers compete against each other to get the prize. Senior Airman David Angeles, 660th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, claims his prize at the top of the pole. (U.S. Air Force photo by Nan Wylie)
