Nelson Fire Response
Firefighters from Travis Air Force Base, Calif., work to prevent the spread of the Nelson Fire in Vacaville, Calif., Aug. 10. Travis dispatched 12 firefighters, two fire engines and one water tanker to support firefighting efforts. The fire scorched 2,162 acres before it was extinguished. A U.S. Air Force F-15C Eagle assigned to the 18th Wing at Kadena Air Base, Japan, is refueled by a KC-10 Extender from the 6th Air Refueling Squadron, Travis Air Force Base, Calif., June 2, 2018. The KC-10 refueled two F-15C Eagles a total of 16 times, offloading a total of 78,400 pounds of fuel over a distance covering nearly 2,300 nautical miles on a mission in the Indo-Pacific region.
