Welcome to your home away from home...

The Adopt-an-Airman program affords our Airmen the opportunity to link up with local families in the surrounding area to form lasting bonds, new friendships, and build support networks with the community outside the military environment. 

For a lot of Airmen at Travis AFB, this is the first time they've been away from their friends and family. To help ease the transition, there are multiple families in the community that are opening their homes, serving as friends and mentors to our Airmen. These families provide Airmen with a caring environment and a sense of belonging that could potentially build relationships that last a lifetime. 

Host families are encouraged to treat every Airman as a member of the family. All host families are not alike, so your experience will probably differ from those of others.  

The Adopt-an-Airman program will attempt to match each Airman with a host family who shares the same interests and characteristics; such as sports, hobbies, religion, and other activities Airmen identify with..
