C-5C
TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- -- Staff Sgt. Brent Dost, an air reserve technician with the 349th Maintenance Squadron, works on a C-5C with, right, SSgt. Dan Louden, 60th Maintenance Squadron, and Mr. Tom Chalmers, a Department of Defense civilian. What started out as a small repair on the aircraft grew into major repairs with the discovery of corrosion and cracks underneath the "skin." This C-5C Galaxy, one of only two in Air Force inventory, is specially modified to support shuttle missions for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Both aircraft are housed at Travis AFB. Read the full story in the February Contact magazine. (U.S. Air Force photo/Mr. Terry Hendricksen)
