T.E.A.M. work, positive attitude at the heart of Travis' success

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Team Travis: Together Everyone Achieves More.

You may have seen Team Travis listed in the base paper or perhaps you saw it posted some where around base.
In either case, senior leaders within the boundaries of Travis, MAJCOM and higher headquarters are proud of the sacrifices of the men and women assigned to this wonderful base.

Each and every one of you is equally vital to the mission, no one person is more important than the other.

It is through the concept and construct of a team that many innovative ideas are implemented to make the most of our valuable time and precious resources.

I quote Capt. John Harris, 60th Air Mobility Wing Protestant chaplain, who said "You can enjoy the leisure of applying less personal force when you discover the value and necessity of teamwork."

When members of a team come together with a specific purpose in mind, it ultimately leads to success ... results of combined work efforts goes from minimal to phenomenal.

Think about it, there's only three NFL teams who have won five Super Bowls. From 1991-1998, the Chicago Bulls won six championships and just two years ago, the Boston Red Sox did what was seen as impossible and overcame a 3-game deficit to beat the Yankees four games in a row to win the pennant.

The composition of Travis, like the teams just mention, was not made over night.
It takes patience and years of molding the various personalities, skill mixes, cultures and diverse backgrounds of our officers, enlisted and civilian partners into the perfect blend.

As we safely continue to give our all and do our best, we must be cognizant of our extended team of Travis warriors performing duties across the mighty oceans.

Col. Robert Millman, 349th AMW vice commander, stated it so eloquently during the arrival of a C-17, "A successful team must beat with one heart."

And that's exactly what the men and women assigned to 60th AMW, 349th AMW, 615th Contingency Response Wing and 15th Expeditionary Mobility Task Force and all of our partner units and sister services do.

The success of a team lies within the way we communicate; up, down and laterally; but the strength of the team is it is unity: You and I plus ty.

Team Travis is the recipe to mission accomplishment.

We must assure the sons and daughters of this great nation that we will continue to put forth every effort to support Travis' triple threat to the Global War on Terror.

Keep on kicking.
