Travis volunteer program gets upgrade Published Sept. 5, 2012 By Renata Summers Airman and Family Readiness Center TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- It's no secret that with budgetary cuts and reorganization, volunteerism (in all capacities) plays a significant role to the Air Force mission. The sustainment of our day-to-day operations would be almost impossible without the dedicated service from numerous volunteers. In previous years, tracking the number of volunteers, hours worked and money saved was not an easy task. There was a lack of tracking consistency and several methods were used to gather the needed data. Also in the past, communication was achieved with newsletters, emails and occasional volunteer requests from first sergeant's. However, the Airman and Family Readiness Center now has a new sheriff: an automated volunteer management system. In an effort to streamline the overall program, volunteering at Travis has a fresh new look, which puts the control of your volunteer experience in your hands. The Travis A&FRC will no longer use the SharePoint website. Registration has begun. Here are some of the new management system's best features: Online registration and recruitment for upcoming events. Manage and Track your volunteer hours with on- or off-base agencies. Schedule upcoming volunteer opportunities Never again rely on those Post-it notes to remember volunteer hours for performance reports, awards and recognition. Access your service record to retrieve volunteer hours, dates and community impact statements for the entire year. Now, your volunteer service record is readily available from any computer, 24/7. For more information, log on to travisafrc.com and select "Volunteering at Travis." You can view our partnered agency list and complete the volunteer registration form. Previous volunteers will need to register using this upgraded method as well. Volunteers ages 17 and younger must have parental consent and register with their parents at the Airman and Family Readiness Center.
