Fellow mobility Airmen:

I have been honored and privileged to serve with you as your commander for the last 2 years. As today's air mobility warriors, you continue a long line of mobility heroes that stretches back over 60 years. And, as you carry that legacy into the future, your warrior spirit is what makes Air Mobility Command a world class championship team.

Every 90 seconds to 2 minutes, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, an Air Mobility Command aircraft with a beautiful U.S. flag on its tail takes to the air. And, it is all made possible by dedicated professionals like you: aerial porters, maintainers, aircrews, command and control folks and every operations/mission support Airmen who proudly wear the AMC patch. It takes all of AMC, working together as a total force team, to provide unrivaled global reach for America. And, what you do is more than provide rapid, flexible, and responsive air mobility. By building our air bridge, our tanker bridge and our aeromedical bridge, you absolutely influence and shape world events. You also symbolize the confidence and pride of our great nation and hope to freedom-loving people around the world...and you literally save lives!

Over the last two years, we have been engaged in the Global War on Terror in Iraq, Afghanistan and a long list of locations where dangerous and austere environments are the rule, not the exception. You executed countless missions for our nation's homeland defense, presidential movements and aeromedical evacuations. And by providing earthquake relief in Pakistan and hurricane relief in our own country, you have proved that conducting simultaneous humanitarian relief & combat missions on opposite sides of the world is now routine...it's expected from you, the air mobility warriors.

I am very proud of the vital work you do every day and I thank your loved ones for supporting your great service to our country and freedom. Linda and I were absolutely honored to serve beside you over the last two years as you continued the Air Mobility Command's tremendous legacy as the finest air mobility force in the world -- and one of our nation's true crown jewels!
