The David Grant USAF Medical Center's OB/GYN - Women's Health staff are dedicated to meeting the healthcare needs of women throughout their lifespan. Our clinic is staffed with OB/GYN physicians, certified nurse-midwifes, nurse practitioners, residents, registered nurses, medical technicians, and administrative personnel. We work closely with your Primary Care Manager to provide specialized care in gynecology, as well as routine and complicated high-risk obstetrical services.
HOW TO BE SEEN IN OUR CLINIC:
If you need to be seen for gynecologic reasons, you should be evaluated seen first by your Primary Care Manager, who will write a consult to Women's Health Services, if needed. Once your PCM has entered a referral, please wait approximately one week for our clinic appointment line to schedule your appointment or call (707) 423-5361 (press option "1"). Please be aware our appointments are for gynecological problems. The PCM can perform annual exams. This does include: Flight Medicine, Internal Medicine, Primary Care and Family Practice.
WALK-IN CLINIC:
The OB/GYN does not have sick call. If you need to be seen, you should first be evaluated by your PCM. Walk-ins are only available for Depo-Provera & Lupron injections. Walk-in hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.

SUB-SPECIALITY SERVICES PROVIDED IN THE WOMEN'S HEALTH CLINIC INCLUDE:
Cervical Dysplasia
DYSPLASIA CLINIC:
Criteria: Patients having an abnormal pap smear are seen in Dysplasia Clinic.
If your pap smear has cervical cells that appear to be abnormal, you will be referred to the Dysplasia Clinic for further examination, testing, and treatment. If your pap smear was completed in the Women's Health Clinic, the Dysplasia Clinic will contact you for scheduling or call (707) 423-5384. If your pap smear was performed by your PCM, a referral will entered and then you will be contacted by the Dysplasia Clinic for scheduling. If you have not been contacted within one week please the dysplasia clinic at or call (707) 423-5384.
Two days prior to your Dysplasia Clinic visit, please avoid douching, spermicidal foams, creams, jellies, or vaginal medications (except as directed by your physician; such compounds may wash away or hide abnormal cells). A pregnancy test result may be required prior to the appointment.
During a dysplasia appointment the provider will perform a Colposcopy (similar to a PAP smear but with a microscope) to obtain necessary samples or biopsies. We ask that you have no intercourse two weeks prior to this appointment and bring pad/panty liner, take Motrin/Tylenol, and eat prior to the appointment. It is important to inform the provider of possible pregnancy prior to the exam for this may change your treatment plan. When indicated after a colposcopy, you may need a LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical) procedure.

OBSTETRIC CARE:
OB care is provided by our Family Medicine/Obstetric Service.
All pregnancy tests must be ordered through your PCM. If it is positive a referral is entered and you will be contacted within three business days to order your new OB labs and be scheduled for your OB orientation with a Family Medicine or OB/GYN registered nurse. This appointment is scheduled approximately 6-8 weeks of pregnancy.
During your visit, you will fill out paperwork information required for your OB record, have your labs and history reviewed and determine if you would like to receive your care as a service (OB) or a private/continuity (Family Medcine) patient. Afterwards, you will be scheduled for your new OB physical appointment with a provider. This appointment is scheduled approximately 10-12 weeks of pregnancy.
ULTRASOUND:
An ultrasound is a technique to image the baby in the uterus and the pelvic organs by using sound waves. It is used for diagnostic purposes and is not harmful to the fetus or the mother. A formal scan is ordered in Radiology during the first and second trimester.
There is limited ultrasound use in the clinic.
