David Grant USAF Medical Center - Pharmacy & Base Exchange Pharmacy

DGMC's Pharmacy Flight, part of the 60th Diagnostics and Therapeutic Squadron, is one of the largest in the Air Force, filling more than 50,000 prescriptions and ordering $2.5 million worth of medication every month.

DGMC's pharmacy fills 70 percent of all prescriptions internally and 30 percent from off-base providers. At most bases, the percentages are reversed with most prescriptions being filled by outside sources. On average, the pharmacy at DGMC serves 1,000 to 1,500 patients a day and 27,000 to 30,000 a month. The most common medications prescribed are non-steroidal (i.e., Motrin) and high cholesterol pills.

Our main goal is to make sure everyone gets the proper medicine they need in a timely manner. Our job is to process all prescriptions, fill them and counsel patients. We want everyone at Travis to keep healthy, so we can continue to serve and keep the mission going by reviewing and ordering prescriptions and make sure all information pertaining to the patient is correct.

What we offer:

The "Outpatient" Pharmacy (707) 423-7114: Located on Level 2 in the "Patient Mall" between the Clinical laboratories, Patient Service Center and across from Diagnostic imaging (X-ray). This outpatient pharmacy location provides first-prescription-fill service Monday through Friday from 0800 to 1700 hours for those patients seen by providers in DGMC (see below for more specifics regarding prescription refills). New prescriptions must be activated by 1700. The Outpatient Pharmacy is closed on weekends, Federal Holidays and Wing-designated down days. The Pharmacy is also closed the 4th Thursday of the month from 0730-1300 for Medical Group training days. * Effective 1 Apr 2016, the Outpatient Pharmacy hours of operation will change.  The Pharmacy will be open from 8:00am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday.

The "Base Exchange" Pharmacy (707) 423-5345: Located at Building 650 in the Travis Base Exchange's mini-Mall, provides daily prescription service Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. New prescriptions must be activated by 1700. This pharmacy location provides first-prescription-fills for those patients seen by civilian physicians (See below for more specifics regarding prescription refills).  The BX Pharmacy is closed on weekends, Federal Holidays and Wing-designated down days. The Pharmacy is also closed the 4th Thursday of the month from 0830-1130 for Medical Group training mornings.

The BX Pharmacy accepts new prescriptions faxed directly from your physician's office (some restrictions apply). If you would like your prescriptions faxed directly to the BX Pharmacy, please have your physician's office contact the BX Pharmacy at (707) 423-5345 to make the required arrangements. Refill prescriptions are ordered 24 hours a day by calling (707) 423-7600 and are picked up at the BX Pharmacy.

Prescription refill requests called in by 10 a.m. Monday through Friday are ready for pick up in 2 duty days.  For example, if you call your prescription in on Monday before 1000, your prescription will be ready for pick up at the BX Pharmacy at 0830 on Wednesday.  If you call in your prescription after the 1000 cut off, it will be ready at 0830 on Thursday.

Additionally, the BX Pharmacy now accepts non-controlled electronic prescriptions submitted directly from your physician's office (some restrictions apply). Remember, some medications still require paper prescriptions. For example, military pharmacies do not accept electronic prescriptions for controlled substances. If you would like your prescriptions electronically submitted to the BX Pharmacy, please have your physician's office submit the prescription to DoD TRAVIS ePhcy. When you arrive at the BX pharmacy, let us know that the prescription was sent electronically.

What you need to know:
To efficiently maximize DGMC Pharmacy's limited financial and personnel resources, prescriptions activated at the Outpatient Pharmacy, new prescriptions submitted at the BX Pharmacy, and called in prescription refills will be maintained for patient pick up for seven (7) duty days. If something unexpected arises preventing you from claiming your prescription within this period, call the DGMC Pharmacy at (707) 423-7114 or (707) 423-5345 and select the respective pharmacy for an extension on the holding period for you.
