David Grant USAF Medical Center - Physical Therapy

DGMC's Physical Therapy clinic is comprised of dedicated and compassionate professionals who specialize in providing care for musculoskeletal disorders and movement dysfunction.

Our staff consists of the following PT professionals:

- Ten Licensed Physical Therapists:
- Six Physical Therapist Assistants
- A team of physical medicine technicians and support staff

DGMC's Physical Therapy team provides top-notch evidence based care to our patients. Physical therapists are licensed health care providers who treat people with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, disabilities, impairments or limitations in their overall physical function.

Physical therapists evaluate, diagnose, develop treatment plans and provide prognosis for patients on an individual basis. Physical therapists use exercise, mobilization, manipulation and modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound or electrical stimulation to restore function, improve mobility and decrease pain.

DGMC's Physical Therapy clinic provides the following inpatient and outpatient services:

- Orthopedic post-op care

- Joint/Soft tissue mobilization
- Therapeutic exercise
- Ultrasound
- Phonophoresis
- Iontophoresis
- Vasocompression
- TENS
- Neuromuscular reeducation
- Electrical stimulation
- Athletic injury management & Taping

- Gait Training

- Inpatient discharge recommendations

Who We See:
 Active-duty members will be seen at DGMC.

 

Direct Access: Active Duty members who have sustained a musculoskeletal injury in the last 2 weeks, can call the CAD at 423-3000 and ask to see Occupational Therapy without a PCM referral (some restrictions apply)

We do not see the following patients:
1.) Adult neuro rehabilitation (i.e., strokes, neuro-muscular disease)
2.) Pediatric long-term rehabilitation (i.e., cerebral palsy)
3.) Wound care patients
4.) Urinary stress incontinence or mixed incontinence problems.

What Clinical Info We Need:
For referrals to Physical Therapy, we request that a consult be entered by the referring physician with a detailed diagnosis and requested services.

Patient Instructions:
Please arrive 15 minutes early and wear appropriate, loose-fitting clothing, to improve/simplify examination (athletic gear, shorts/t-shirt etc).

If you have been referred from a civilian provider please bring a copy of your physician's referral and any pertinent paperwork that your provider has given you (protocols, copy of surgical report etc.).
