David Grant USAF Medical Center - Admissions Call Center

In 2008, David Grant USAF Medical Center opened its Admissions Call Center for health care providers.

This operation is designed to provide dedicated administrative support to facilitate timely admission decisions and smooth patient transfers between DGMC and other medical facilities.

Who is Eligible for transfer?
Any TRICARE and VA/DGMC Sharing Agreement patient is eligible for transfer:

- TRICARE Prime
- TRICARE Standard
- TRICARE for life (Over 65 with Medicare Parts A&B)
- VA Patients (under criteria listed above)

What is the process?
- Eligibility of Patient is verified upon contact from outside facility
- Patient demographics and type/level of care is provided to on-call admission team within DGMC
- DGMC on-call provider will determine if the type and/or level of service requested is available
- On-call provider will contact Admissions Call Center and either confirm or deny admission based on capability and/or capacity

How long will this process take?
- Generally speaking, the admission coordination should take no more than 30 minutes. There are cases, with unique criteria, that may take a little more time. However, patient safety is paramount.
