David Grant USAF Medical Center - Hem/Onc Clinic

DGMC's Hematology/Oncology Clinic newly expanded and modernized facility is comprised of dedicated and compassionate professionals who specialize in the comprehensive care of patients with blood diseases and cancer.

DGMC has operated a Hematology/Oncology infusion center here since 1998. It averages over 350 nursing and treatment appointments a month and is located directly across from the Joint Radiation Oncology Center, also know as the JROC.

Our outpatient staff consists of the following:

· Three Board Certified Hematologist/Oncologists
· Four Chemotherapy Certified Infusion Nurse Specialists
· Three Medical Support Assistants
· One Oncology Social Worker
· One Breast Cancer Pathway Coordinator
· A Team of Hospital physicians, nurses and support staff

This multi-disciplinary team provides state-of-the-art care to our patients.  The $1.3 million renovation in 2010 expanded our capabilities from seven to 13 infusion chairs while maintaining virtually the same floorspace of the original facility.

The expanded nurse's station also increases the ease and effectiveness of monitoring multiple patients, which now offers additional amenities such as individual televisions with headphones and a call light system installed at each station with a chair for patient's family members, plus a blanket warmer and water station near the patient restroom.

An on-site laboratory with pharmacy services via a pass-through window further enhance the quality of care by providing on-site diagnostic and therapeutic capability. Our Ambulatory Infusion Center augments our outpatient services by providing chemotherapy administration, transfusion services and other infusion needs for all adult outpatients at Travis Air Force Base.

The Hematology/Oncology Clinic is active in clinical research. We offer our patients the opportunity to participate in cancer clinical trials at several Northern California NCI-designated University Medical Centers. We are active in resident education, providing clinical instruction and didactic teaching for residents, nurses, and medical students.
